Cytokine Production
The balance between different cytokines is an important factor in immune regulation between predominantly pro- and anti-inflammatory immune responsiveness. Knowing whether a natural product induces or inhibits production of different cytokines in cell-based testing systems can assist in creating a portfolio on mechanisms of action.
NIS Labs performs testing for the following panel of cytokines, using cell culture supernatants from five-day cultures peripheral blood mononuclear cells exposed to test products. To test direct versus synergistic effects, cells are treated both with a test product alone and in the presence of the known T cell mitogen PHA:
